Product Benefits
Traditional Uses
Momordica charantia, known in Ayurveda as Karavellaka, is classified under Tikta Skandha Dravyas (bitter-tasting) due to its intense bitterness, traditionally associated with supporting the body’s natural cleansing processes and metabolic wellness. Karavellaka has been traditionally used as both Ahara (food) and Aushadha (plant medicine). Traditionally , cooked bitter gourd was consumed as a part of diet to support metabolic balance, especially during Kapha and Pitta-dominant seasons.
Karavellaka is bitter in taste, light to digest, hot in potency, and pungent in effect, making it valuable for supporting metabolism. Classical Indian texts such as the Charaka and Sushruta Samhitas describe its use in sugar metabolism support.
