Indian Kino Tree Reforestation, Sami-Sabinsa Group Funds Major Conservation Project in India

The Sami-Sabinsa Group* has committed to fund a 10-year reforestation project that will oversee the planting of more than 166,600 Indian kino (Pterocarpus marsupium, Fabaceae) trees on 250 acres in the large central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.1 The group expects to spend about $500,000 on the project, which it claims is the first initiative to conserve this high-value, multipurpose, threatened species in India.
